LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- A purple heart veteran who fought in Afghanistan twice received a special surprise on Wednesday morning: a brand new home.

Pulte Group and the Build to Honor program donated a mortgage-free home to Corporal James Faddis. He's a marine who was shot in the hips during his second tour back in 2011. The house is in The Woods of Penn Run in Southern Jefferson County.

Faddis says he was overwhelmed by the generosity and is excited to enjoy his new home.

Faddis is a highly decorated veteran. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
