LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Things have returned to normal after a malfunction caused a power outage in St. Matthews Monday.

Officials with Louisville Gas and Electric said the fire knocked out power to more than 2,000 customers and left traffic backed up in the area during rush hour.

LG&E says the piece of equipment malfunctioned around 4:30 p.m.

Crews were able to repair the equipment and power was restored to customers around 6:30 p.m.
