LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Police say two women in their 60s were driving near Newport Road and Cawood Drive in Buechel with a 7-year-old in the backseat when a car pulled up next to them and opened fire.

“Just at the wrong place at the wrong time,” the victim’s cousin said.

She didn't want to reveal her identity but she says she's grateful her cousins walked away from this car.

“It was just God looking out,” she said.

“When I come outside I saw the black car take out the gun and shoot the white car over there,” a witness said.

A neighbor in the area witnessed the shooting but didn't want to be identified.

“I was scared because I just thought she was dying,” the witness said.

The passenger in the car was shot in the leg but is expected to be okay. Luckily, no one else was hurt.

“This has to end. Every day there's something going on. It has to stop,” the victim’s cousin said.

Police do not have any suspects now. Neighbors say the suspect was driving a black car. If you have any information, you can call LMPD's anonymous topline at 574-LMPD.
