Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Louisville Metro Police Department and Okolona firefighters are mourning the loss of two men who died this week.
Okolona Sergeant Jeff Kampschaefer passed away Wednesday night. He was recently diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in November 2017.
Kampschaefer served with Okolona fire since 2007, and he also volunteered at Lake Dreamland Fire and was a part time firefighter with Camp Taylor Fire. Flags flew over a number of overpasses in Louisville as his body was escorted to a funeral home.
Funeral arrangements for Sergeant Kampschaefer have yet to be confirmed.
Also on Wednesday, LMPD announced the death of Detective Paul Oliver, of the First Division, who passed away due to complications following treatment for a medical condition. He'd been on the force for the last 4 years.
