LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The ribbon is cut on a new operations center for Metro Public Works.

The new facility on Newburg Road brings together the roads and operations divisions, the signs and markings team and electrical maintenance storage under one roof. Inside the six-acre complex, employees have the emergency command center, along with everything needed for snow removal and traffic work.

Now that the old central command center is no longer needed, plans are in the works for the city to build a new Animal Services Care Center in its place. The current animal facility on Manslick Road is outdated.
