LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- While we won't be seeing snow here in Louisville anytime soon it's never too early to prepare.

Mayor Greg Fischer and the 265-member Louisville Metro Snow Team declared the city is officially "battle ready" when it comes to the snow season. Louisville will begin the snow season this year with 33,500 tons of salt on hand- and they're prepared to order more if needed. The metro snow team is filled with eager workers prepared to spring into action whenever necessary.

“All of us on the snow team understand that every instance of snow and ice is very important to our residents and our businesses. We also need to be adequately prepared before the bad weather arrives to keep our roads safe,” Brian Funk, Assistant Director for Roads and Operations, said.

The city will also keep residents informed of all snow removal progress with an interactive map. You can also follow them on Twitter for updates.
