LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- During Officer Nick Rodman's funeral service on Tuesday Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Louisville Metro Police Department Steve Conrad talked about the officer who came from a family that has served the city of Louisville for many years.
Fischer talked about the day Rodman was sworn in in June 2014. He said Rodman brought compassion to work and even had teddy bears on hand to give to children he would meet while on patrol.
"That's the standard that Nick set for himself as a police officer and a public servant and as a human being,"
Conrad said Rodman did his job with a lot of enthusiasm.
"Nick was the kind of man you wanted to be able to call a friend," Conrad said.
He went on to say Rodman was incredibly witty and always smiling.
"I pray that through this tragedy we become stronger," Conrad said.
