LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Family members of a man shot by a Metro Police officer on March 1, has now hired a prominent legal team.

Bruce Warrick was shot in an abandoned home on Magazine Street. After Officer Sarah Stumler told Warrick, who was hiding behind a mattress, to put his hands up, she shoots him in the stomach.

Warrick is still hospitalized and has a long road of recovery ahead.

In an announcement Saturday, family members say they will be represented by Sam Aguiar and Thomas Clay.

Clay represented Michael Newby’s family after he was shot and killed during an undercover drug buy in the Shawnee neighborhood in 2004.

Aguiar is currently representing the family of Darnell Wicker, a man shot and killed by police in August 2016.
