LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – A suspect has died after he was shot by police in the Portland neighborhood this afternoon.
According to police, they received a robbery call from a Metro PCS store in the Portland area and a description of the suspect was released.
First division officers located a man at 29th and St. Xavier Streets matching that description. That's when the suspect, who was later identified as 21-year-old Demonjhea Jordan, and officers exchanged fire.
Jordan was struck and transported to University Hospital where he died. The officers were not harmed.
The officers involved have been placed on administrative reassignment during the investigation.
