LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – It looks like fans of both the Louisville Cardinals and the Kentucky Wildcats will have something to celebrate at this year’s Republic Bank Pegasus Parade.

The Kentucky Derby Festival is switching it up a little bit and are calling this year’s parade theme Throwback Thursday.

“The parade is the event that started the Festival 63 years ago and this year’s march will be a trip down memory lane,” Mike Berry, KDF President and CEO, said in a statement. “Who better to evoke great memories than two coaches responsible for nine of the Final Four trips and three of the NCAA championships for UofL and UK.”

What other way to break in the popular social media hashtag? Bring in two beloved figures in college basketball.

Legendary Coaches Joe B. Hall and Denny Crum were chosen to be co-grand marshals.

Officials say the coaches also participated in the parade 43 years ago.

Participants in the parade were invited to choose their favorite themes from previous years to decorate their floats.

KDF officials say there will be 10 floats featured in the parade.

The Pegasus Parade will take place on May 3.
