LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- UPDATE: Kenneth Betts has been arrested. The attorney for Officer Wood says he turned himself in, and Metro Corrections confirmed that Wood is no longer in custody. -- A grand jury in Jefferson County has indicted a former Louisville Metro Police Department officer and a current LMPD officer. This all has to do with the sex abuse allegations from a former participant in LMPD's Youth Explorer program.

Kenneth Betts, former LMPD, was indicted on charges of sodomy and sodomy 3. The charges against Betts involves accusations of sex with two different minors. This case has been assigned to Division Two of the Jefferson Circuit Court and an arraignment is scheduled for Monday, April 17, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in that division.

Officer Brandon Wood, was indicted on seven counts of sexual abuse. This case has been assigned to Division Thirteen of the Jefferson Circuit Court and an arraignment has been scheduled for Monday, April 17, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. in that division.

A $10,000 bond was set for Woods and a $15,000 bond was set for Betts.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Tom Wine commented on the indictments:

“My office was first notified of the allegations against these officers in October 2016 and a report from the Public Integrity Unit of the Louisville Metro Police Department regarding their preliminary findings was provided us in February of this year. I believe that the Public Integrity Unit has conducted a thorough investigation of charges relating to these officers specifically and the LMPD Explorer program generally. Notwithstanding these indictments, the Public Integrity Unit is continuing its investigation. We request that any victims as yet unknown to us contact the LMPD Public Integrity Unit at (502)574-2136 or my office at (502)595-2340.”
