CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – West Clark Community Schools’ superintendent Chad Schenck announced his resignation after three years in the position.

A spokesperson for Schenck told WHAS11 he sent out a memo to faculty and staff to share the news.

The decision comes less than a month after the school board unanimously voted to move forward with a plan to split the district. That decision was in response to a failed referendum that would have provided millions in school improvements.

His resignation becomes effective Dec. 31.
