JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – Jeffersonville Police are searching for a teenager charged in an armed robbery at southern Indiana Dollar General. It happened Oct. 17 at the store on State Highway 62. Since then, police have been trying to find 17-year-old Isaac Lukes.

"We went to turn around and the gentleman that robbed us held a 9 mm gun to my head and told us to back up in the store and give him all his money,” Stephanie Nevels, one of the three women who was held up said.

Locking up the store like they always do, Nevels and her two female colleagues were facing the sliding glass doors around 11 p.m. last Monday. They said they saw the suspect for the first time while turning to walk away.

"He had actually hid behind where the shopping carts are waited for us to close the doors," Nevels said.

Police are now looking for Lukes, According to police he is the one that robbed the story and then forced the ladies back into the building, demanding the manager empty the safe while the other two waited in the corner.

"When he told us to turn and face this direction, honest to god I thought he was going to kill us. I mean, when he had us face the opposite direction I thought we were gone,” Nevels said.

The clerk said Lukes then forced the women to the back of the store. She said he shut them in bathroom and told the ladies to count to 3,000 before coming out.

During that time Nevels said he stole phones charges, candy and a speaker, as well as cash.

Once he was gone, they called police.

Police said they were able to identify Lukes as the suspect last week, and since then they've been searching for him. Police say they have contacted his family but his whereabouts are unknown.

”We asked that if they had any contact with him or information about his location that he turn himself in immediately," Detective Todd Hollis said.

"When we go to close at night to leave I’m afraid that I’m going to go out and turn around and he's going to be there again and do it again, because he's not been caught,” Nevels said through tears.

Lukes is charged with robbery and three counts of criminal confinement.

Police are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to report it to them at (812) 218-TIPS.
