New art will be installed that will symbolize the city's significance with bourbon.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Louisville has a few nicknames – Derby City, River City but has never been referred to as Bourbon City although the product is a huge part of its heritage.

The rings of giant bourbon barrels are being installed at 4th and Main Streets as a gateway for the public to walk through.

It symbolizes the entrance to historic Whiskey Row on Main Street near the Galt House Hotel.

The structures are made of concrete but also have real oak ingrained into the art. They are made to look at the staves of the barrels.

There are also five hoops made to look like the barrels.

An official ribbon cutting ceremony for the art will be held with Mayor Greg Fischer at 11 a.m. Friday.
