LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- With an increase in manufacturing jobs across the country and Kentuckiana, one local high school is taking steps to make sure its students are prepared to fill those openings.

Doss High School announced today the creation of its Manufacturing Engineering Technology Program.

The program will not only prepare students for jobs in the manufacturing industry, but also expose them to the variety of opportunities it provides.

GE Appliances, Republic Conduit and the Ford Assembly Plant have all partnered with Doss to create and support the program.

Students who complete the program will earn certifications needed by front-line production technicians.
