LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police are investigating a shooting that happened outside an Okolona liquor store.
Police say they received a call that a victim had been brought to the Okolona firehouse.
Shortly after the first call, another call came in of a shooting outside of Crown Liquors on Cooper Chapel Road, officers found another man shot there.
Police believe the two scenes are related but the shooting leaves many of those living in the area feeling uncomfortable.
“To happen in a neighborhood like this just tells me it can happen in any neighborhood in the city,” Red Malone said.
Neighbors say their community is usually quiet with the Fraternal Order of Police lodge nearby. Some say they heard multiple gunshots coming in from the liquor store parking lot.
Both men were transported to University Hospital. The coroner identified Michael Anthony Winters, 22, as the man shot outside of the liquor store. The coroner says Winters died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Police say the other victim remains in serious condition.
Police do not have any suspects at this time.
