LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A local community is offering an outpouring of support with notes and well wishes, even money, to help to help one of their own.

Mt. Washington is in rallying mode, rallying around a beloved shop owner who was shot and left for dead.
Community members were shaken by incident and pulled together to support Simon Yeung, the owner of Donut King.

Police say Yeung was shot twice in the head on Wednesday but they don't know who did it or why. Since then he's been recovering at University Hospital.

Local high schoolers and Yeung's customers decorated the shop windows with notes of encouragement and prayers.

Maggie Mae's on Bardstown Road in Mt. Washington donated all cash tips Friday and Saturday and their customers were happy to support the cause as well.

"I wanted to come help local businesses. It’s a town full of small businesses and you know, something like this is pretty bad for our community,” said Amy Baker, a customer.

Bullitt East High School students and staff also raised more than $3,500 for the family.

Yeung is recovering at University Hospital and his family has invited the public to share notes of encouragement with him.
