LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Inmates at Metro Corrections in downtown Louisville got into the holiday spirit with a decorating contest. The jail allowed the inmates to decorate their dorms in different themes like the Grinch and Charlie Brown Christmas.

Jail officials said the contest helps the inmates bond and gives them something to work for.

“It changes the whole atmosphere of the jail. We're all really sad because we can't be with our families, but in this program, we're all bonded. So we can tell stories and share and actually be positive. And it's actually been fun,” Stacy McCubbins said. The first-place winners received a fried chicken dinner with the second and third place winners also receiving special meals.
