LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kentucky lawmakers are working to more clearly regulate agents who represent student-athletes.

Louisville Democrat Senator Morgan McGarvey sponsors the bill which passed committee.

Senator McGarvey says while timely, the bill is not in response to recent headlines from UofL and UK, but it could directly impact similar situations.

The bill would define social media contact by a prospective agent as contact with a student-athlete.

It would also cut some loopholes that some suggest have allowed agents and their partners to connect with athletes while they are minors.
