LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Family members who lost loved ones to gun violence are getting together to help those affected.

Beverly Taylor lost her brother Nathaniel Hill to murder in May of this year. He was killed trying to break up a fight between friends.

Taylor along with many other family members who have lost loved ones to gun violence say education and positive influences can change the course of a child's life, putting them on a better path.

"My brother, he loved to carry a backpack. My brother, everywhere he went he had a backpack on. So, I thought it would be a good thing that we give back to these kids and give them a backpack,” Taylor said.

The Stop the Violence Back to School Giveaway will take place on August 11 at Flaget Field, but they will start accepting donations at Devastating Doo's.
