LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A busy morning at Atherton High School today as Congressman John Yarmuth joined students to hand out hundreds of orange ribbons to fellow students. Each of those ribbons had the name of a school shooting victim.

Student organizers said the idea came about after their principal brought them together to think of ways to share their voices and thoughts on school safety.

“When you see the passion that these young students have, and the motivation that they have to make a statement about the need to provide safety for students around the country, you just want to do everything you can to support them,” Congressman Yarmuth said.
