LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Runners of all skill levels kicked off the Triple Crown of running Saturday at the Anthem 5K.

Officials say more than 5,000 runners participated in the event.

Ernest Koesh came in first place and the first female to cross the finish line not only had her personal best time but beat the current female course record by one minute.

“It’s kind of a bittersweet moment cause one of my best friends has it, so we’ve always kind of gone back and forth – but yeah, it was a good day. Good day, good day, good day,” Rosie Edwards said.

Proceeds of the Anthem 5K go to help special needs children through the WHAS Crusade for Children.
