LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Now in its 30th year, Picture Your Pets with Santa is back. Santa and nearly 800 elves will pitch in to help local homeless animals.

Each Feeders Supply store in the Louisville area will host the event for the first two weekends in December. The event will run from 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays and 11 am to 4 pm on Sundays. The proceeds will benefit The Kentucky Humane Society, Floyd County Animal Rescue League, Franklin County Humane Society, Humane Society of Oldham County, Lexington Humane Society, Saving Sunny, and Shamrock Pet Foundation.

"Picture Your Pets with Santa is the largest, and one of the oldest, pets with Santa photo events in the region," says Andrea Blair, Kentucky Humane Society spokesperson. "We expect over 5,000 families to participate."

During the event, families can get professional holiday portraits and gift items and help homeless animals at the same time. Last year's event garnered over $100,000 in proceeds towards local shelters and animal welfare agencies. Photo packages start at $12 and gift items include ornaments, mugs, and keychains.

All dogs should be on leashes and cats should be in appropriate carriers. Horses may be photographed outside with Santa.

This event is volunteer-driven and 100% of proceeds are given to animal welfare agencies and rescue organizations. Sponsors of the event include Feeders Supply, Natural Balance Pet Food, and Park Community Credit Union.
