LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A man has died nearly 24 hours after an accident just east of downtown Saturday night.

Police say they responded to the intersection of River Road and Zorn Avenue around 10 p.m.

According to LMPD’s preliminary investigation, an operator of a motorcycle was traveling eastbound on River Road when a passenger vehicle going west made a left turn in front of the motorcycle causing both to collide.

The operator of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died just before 3 a.m., according to Coroner Rita Taylor.

The motorcycle’s passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries and no one in the vehicle was injured.

The victim’s name has not yet been released.

LMPD’s Traffic Unit says the investigation is ongoing.
