LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – One person has died and another is injured after a vehicle collision early Sunday.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday LMPD Fourth Division officers were dispatched to the scene of a two-vehicle collision at Floyd and Central streets.

According to witnesses, the male driver of one vehicle was driving south on Floyd when he ran a light and struck the passenger side door of another vehicle, which had the right of way. The female passenger of the struck vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene and the male driver of the struck vehicle was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.The female was identified as 24-year-old Lydia Logsdon.

The driver of the vehicle that struck them has been identified as Shawn Murphy.

Murphy fled the scene on foot and was apprehended nearby.

He is charged with manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of drug paraphernalia and other charges.

Officials are investigating whether or not Murphy was impaired.
