(USA TODAY) - Worried about giant space rocks slamming into the Earth? On Wednesday, we'll get a near-miss from an asteroid larger than the Rose Bowl, which will safely zip by us at a distance of some 1.1 million miles.

While that sounds far away, its only about 4.6 times the distance from Earth to the moon, and the closest pass from such a big asteroid since 2004.

The asteroid is so massive that astronomy website Slooh.com nicknamed it "The Rock," after popular movie star Dwayne Johnson.
