Possible hepatitis A related death in Louisville reported

This could be the first known death from the virus in Kentucky since the recent outbreak began in 2017, impacting multiple counties with 150 known cases to date.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A death in Louisville is likely related to hepatitis A, according to a release from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

The individual that died had symptoms and lab test results that met the case definition for the hepatitis A virus.

This could be the first known death from the virus in Kentucky since the recent outbreak began in 2017, impacting multiple counties with 150 known cases to date.
