Dixie Hwy. Kroger employee diagnosed with Hepatitis A

Kroger is advising customers to dispose of produce purchased between Feb 4 and Feb 28 due to a risk of exposure to the virus.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A Kroger employee the 4915 Dixie Highway store has been diagnosed with Hepatitis A.

Erin Grant, a spokesperson for Kroger, said the employee, who normally worked in the produce section, stopped work and informed us as soon as he was diagnosed.

"We immediately contacted the health department and began disposing of product and cleaning," she said. "I want to be clear the associate did not continue working with the knowledge of having the virus."

Kroger is advising customers to dispose of produce purchased between Feb 4 and Feb 28 due to a risk of exposure to the virus.

If you have consumed the produce that may have been contaminated, please be familiar with the symptoms of Hepatitis A and seek medical attention if necessary.

Kroger says they have been able to track down those who were affected by their Kroger plus card information and will be reaching out to those customers directly.

In a statement, the company said," Kroger is committed to the health and well-being of all our associates and customers."
