It all starts out with Marcio explaining that he grew up in Compton, California.

"Growing up, we lived in a roach-infested apartment. My mother tried her hardest, but children services ended up placing me and my sister in the system."

Marcio looked for something to give him refuge and he found that in his music. But, he goes on to explain how the cycle repeats. His sister ended up having a child and she couldn't keep him.

"She couldn't keep him, drugs played a big factor in that, because she couldn't take care of him."

The police and the social worker then brought the little baby boy to him (around a week old) and told him that he would have to decide to keep the child or he would end up in the system.

Marcio, in tears, replied "I looked at him and said I'll take him. I didn't want him to go through what I went through."

Near the end of his story, Marcio is holding the precious little baby boy (Rashad) and you can see just how much he loves that little bundle of joy.

Leading up to his audition Marcio explains why he is performing. "Now, I'm not only performing for me, I'm performing for my son. I want to show him what a man can really do when you step up to the plate."
