LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – The Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating a triple homicide in the PRP neighborhood.

The investigation is in the 6400 block of Venango Drive. Two women and a man were found shot to death in a home.

“I'm a little upset,” said Keith Harris, who told WHAS11 News he knows the family that lived in the home. “I'd like to figure out why. What would make somebody want to do that?”

LMPD said two children under the age of five were in the home too and were not harmed. It's unclear if their parents are among the three victims.

“You're hoping that they didn't see anything, let alone hear anything,” explained LMPD spokesperson, Alicia Smiley. “Again, not knowing whether or not they're related to them, it's going to be traumatic for them either way just because they have to go through the crime scene themselves.”

The disturbing news had one father in the neighborhood feeling uneasy.

“It's very heart wrenching, and it's no feeling in the world that you can possibly think of to describe that feeling that they possibly experienced that. It's very, very traumatic,” explained Jaren Patrick, who lives just a few doors down.

Patrick said his two boys have played with the kids found in the home, and are around the same age.

“It's comforting to hear that the kids are okay, but it's sad to hear that the adults are dead.”

LMPD officers are still in the preliminary stages of their investigation. It is unclear how the victims are related.

The kids are currently safe with relatives.
