LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Metro Police are investigating a deadly shooting in southwest Jefferson County, the city’s third murder in two days.
Police were called to the 3100 block of Fordhaven Road around 6:30 p.m.
When officers arrived, a male was found shot to death inside an apartment. That victim has been identified as 25-year-old Leroy Johnson.
Neighbors told WHAS11 News they heard two loud gunshots.
They say the neighborhood is a high drug area but police have not said what led up to the shooting.
The city is nearing 100 homicides in 2017. So far, 94 have been confirmed.
“It is unfortunate for the lives lost. The three that have happened in the last few days are just as devastating as the first one that happened in January," LMPD Spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.
Police say there have been no arrests.
Police are questioning those who live at and near the apartment complex but stresses for help.
