FLOYD CO., Ind. (WHAS11) – A Floyd County man is facing multiple charges after police say he was in possession of an alleged police scanner and emergency lights.
Twenty-three-year-old John William-Michael Ulmer of Greenville, Ind. was arrested on Dec. 2 on I-265 by Indiana State Police Trooper Paul Bailey.
Bailey said he saw Ulmer in the eastbound fast lane of I-265 at mile marker 3.5 in Floyd County. Ulmer was stationary in a white Ford Crown Victoria with flashing red and white emergency lights on the vehicle’s rear and flashing white and amber emergency lights on the front. ISP says Ulmer’s Crown Victoria was stopped behind a disabled mini-van and the Crown Victoria was in the fast lane creating a traffic problem.
Through Bailey’s investigation, he discovered Ulmer had an alleged police scanner and Ulmer was then taken into custody and transported to the Floyd County Jail.
Ulmer was charged with: illegal possession of police radio, unlawful display of emergency lights, reckless driving-blocking flow of traffic, and light restriction violation.
