LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Seven people that are being called a criminal syndicate have been indicted on several charges connected to an alleged drug smuggling operation at Metro Corrections.

LMPD has been working with Metro Corrections to catch the suspects and they are a combination of inmates, former inmates and civilian employees.

Those arrested includes:

Jasmine Humphrey, 29

Deserea Fuget, 35

Cedric Wells, 30

Scott Young, 51

Antonio Young, 26

Charles Brown III

Antonio Williamson

All 7 face a range of charges including engaging in organized crime, three different drug trafficking and contraband charges.

Tracy Dotson, president of the Fraternal Order of Police, told WHAS11 News this kind of contraband not only puts the officers at a greater risk of harm but the inmates as well.

Metro Corrections Director Mark Bolton says the investigation remains active and he expects there to be more charges to come out as the investigation moves forward.
