Louisville, KY - I-64 W and I-71 S in Spaghetti Junction were closed earlier Thursday morning after a semi collided with a car and hit the concrete barrier just after 3:30 a.m. on I-64 W before the 3rd St. exit. Injuries were reported. All roads and ramps have since opened as of 8:00 a.m.

UPDATE: Preliminary investigations revealed that a driver in a Volkswagen was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes. Because the driver was going the wrong direction, the Volkswagen collided with a semi-tractor trailer. The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to University Hospital and is in serious condition.

LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.


Police were diverting traffic on I-64 W onto Mellwood Ave. The area was highly congested already due to a sewer collapse Wednesday. The roadblock impacted East Main Street between Jackson and Clay and Hancock Street between Market and Washington Streets.

I-71 S was also closed at Zorn Ave. Drivers were forced to exit onto Zorn Ave. and take River Rd.to get to downtown.
