LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Twelve years after first opening, the Muhammad Ali Center is getting ready for a makeover.
The center in downtown Louisville says in those 12 years, the area has had normal wear and tear and it’s time for an upgrade.
There will be a complete redesign of its main lobby, gift shop, and group entrance.
“What we really want this lobby to be is contemporary, welcoming, fresh, and to overall provide a better experience for our visitors,” Jeanie Kahnke of the Muhammad Ali Center said.
The renovations are expected to begin in mid-January and will take about three months to complete.
During that time, visitors will still have access to most areas of the center.
However, the center will be closed from Jan. 8 through Jan. 14.
