Chris Cornell, the lead singer of Seattle-based Soundgarden, was nominated posthumously for a Grammy Tuesday.
Cornell is nominated for Best Rock Performance (single or track) for "The Promise."
A medical examiner determined Cornell took his own life in his Detroit hotel room in May. He was 52.
Foo Fighters, which also originated in Seattle, are in the same category for "Run." That song is also up for a songwriting Grammy.
The other nominees in the category are Leonard Cohen, "You Want It Darker;" Kaleo, "No Good;" and Nothing More, "Go to War."
The Grammys will be awarded on Jan. 28.
