Kevin Smith has no regrets when it comes to the massive heart attack he suffered in February.

The 47-year-old actor and director appeared on NBC’s Today on Monday and while discussing the health scare, he admitted he sees the ordeal as a positive occurrence.

“I feel great,” he told Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie during the interview. “Honestly, the heart attack was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

One up side of the scare is that Smith has lost 32 pounds by changing his diet and is now the same weight he was when he met his wife, Jennifer.

He plans to “keep going,” with his weight loss and is even working with Weight Watchers as he attempts to shed a further 18 pounds, per his doctor’s recommendation.

“I joined Weight Watchers and they made me an ambassador,” he said “So it’s me, Oprah and DJ Khaled -- I’m in pretty good company.”

Smith also opened up about the details of his scare, sharing how he didn’t know he was experiencing a heart attack until he was in the operating room.

He was unaware that one of his arteries had been blocked for years, and when the doctor told him he had suffered a heart attack, he responded in surprise, saying, “Nobody told me. Are you serious?”

He was then not only conscious, but singing, during surgery!

“They keep you awake while it’s going on,” he shared. “They don’t knock you out, so I was talking the whole operation. [The doctor] told me later on, ‘You’re very chatty.’ He’s like, 'You wanted to know everything … you were singing a song, "Degrassi."' I was singing the theme song to Degrassi because it’s very hopeful.”

Smith has previously appeared on Degrassi: The Next Generation as Silent Bob.
