LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- WHAS11 names Lisa Hutson news anchor and multi-skilled journalist to begin the role in January 2018. Her Kentucky roots, passion for storytelling and interest in covering issues that affect people in her community uniquely equip her to further advance WHAS11’s mission of advocacy on behalf of the residents of Kentuckiana.

Lisa spent the last two years in Waco, Texas, telling everyday stories about everyday people through her series “Heart of Central Texas.” Prior to that, she worked in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Little Rock, Arkansas, covering topics ranging from natural disasters to veterans’ issues to homelessness.

Lisa was born a few hours south of Louisville in Murray, Kentucky, where her family still lives. She later moved to Arkansas but spent many summers during her formative years at her grandfather’s farm in Hico, a rural community in far western Kentucky.

In making the announcement, Linda Danna, President and General Manager of WHAS11, said, “I am delighted to welcome Lisa, a person who cares deeply for people and who brings a high level of compassion and empathy to her role that speaks to WHAS11’s legacy and enduring commitment to the community.”

“I am so thrilled to serve the city of Louisville and Southern Indiana and I’m excited to get to work telling the stories that matter to the people of this amazing community," says Hutson.

Self-professed foodies and rabid basketball fans, Lisa and her husband Wayne are eager to sample the great food in the area and attend as many UK and UofL games as possible.
